ArDOT ‘dusts off’ $600 million future I-49 Barling to Alma stretch



The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ArDOT) and the Federal Highway Administration have cooperated on an environmental re-evaluation as well as refining the conceptual alignment for a new section of Interstate 49 (I-49) that would connect approximately 13.7 miles between Highway 22 in Sebastian County and the I-40/I-49 interchange in Crawford County.

 

A public meeting to review maps and provide input on the alignment and possible tolling of the bridge was held in Barling on April 26.

NWA planners apply for BUILD grant to pay for I-49 gap between AR/MO

The NW AR Regional Planning Commission has once again applied for federal funding to complete a 4.8-mile segment of Interstate 49 in Missouri to the state line. The segment is the only portion of the 18.9-mile Arkansas/Missouri Connector, or the Bella Vista Bypass, that doesn’t have the needed funding identified to complete the project.



AR residents give input in Barling to ArDOT on I-49 project

Fort Smith, AR-area residents had the opportunity to learn more about a proposed I-49 project Thursday during an ArDOT public involvement meeting to discuss 13.7-mile project between AR Hwy. 22 in Sebastian County to the Interstates 40/49 interchange in Crawford County.
